Texas public health officials on Friday reported an additional 22 measles cases in the ongoing outbreak, for a total of 646 outbreak cases. The state’s Department of State Health Services estimates that one percent of the total cases — or fewer than 10 cases — are actively infectious.

Of those infected across the U.S., 97% of cases came from those who are unvaccinated or whose vaccination status is unknown.

There have been 884 confirmed cases of measles across 30 states so far this year, according to the latest update from the CDC on Friday, far surpassing the 285 measles cases reported in the entirety of 2024 (the CDC does not provide data on how many cases are actively infectious).
